At approximately 2:00 AM, August 30, 1997 Jan Samarelli awoke with a rumbling feeling in her stomach. Frantically, she tried to awake Frederick - all to no avail. He was out like a bad light. The heavy Italian pasta dinner and four bottles of wine had done their job on him. In desperation, Jan called Rosie to come watch Spike and Barney. She was completely dressed when a male voice spoke out “Honey, where’s the bromo seltzer?” |

“Fred, I’ve got to go to the hospital NOW” she said. Fred immediately bolted upright from the bed and began rushing frantically around the room. “Don’t worry honey, snookums will take care of everything.” Fred said while getting dressed. He was dressed in two minutes and began waiting on Jan to finish. A half hour later Jan finished her make up and they left and were admitted into Columbia Arlington hospital. Fred was admitted for a lower back strain. The doctors diagnosed this injury was due to lifting 8 traveling bags. |
